Essentials

The Foundation of a Well-Behaved Dog.

Practical obedience begins at home. Essentials gives younger dogs the manners, boundaries, and reliable foundation they need—while giving owners the guidance to maintain those results in everyday life.

What Essentials Teaches

The Essentials for Living Well Together.

A well-behaved dog understands more than individual commands. The dog learns what is expected, respects established boundaries, and responds reliably within everyday life.

Within the Home

Calm in the Home

Sit · Down · Place · Off · Quiet

Beyond the Home

Confidence Beyond It

Heel · Recall

Your dog is taught that a command remains in effect until released or directed to do something else. If you prefer to use “stay,” we will show you how to use it with clarity and consistency—so it carries genuine meaning.

Training also addresses jumping, pulling, unnecessary barking, overexcitement, and household boundaries—helping create a calmer, more enjoyable life together.

Owner Instruction

Training That Lasts Beyond the Lesson.

Essentials does more than teach your dog a series of commands. Each private session also gives you the practical guidance needed to establish clear expectations, reinforce good behavior, and respond consistently when correction is necessary.

You will receive homework between lessons and be expected to complete brief daily practice with your dog. We will review your progress, address difficulties, and hold you accountable for applying what you have learned.

The goal is not a dog that responds only when the trainer is present. It is a well-behaved companion—and an owner who understands how to preserve the results.

Program Format

Private Training, Shaped Around Everyday Life.

Essentials includes six private, 45-minute sessions conducted in your home. Working within the dog’s own environment allows us to address the routines, expectations, and distractions that shape your life together.

Sessions are typically scheduled twice a week over three weeks. The time between lessons allows you to practice, complete your homework, and build consistency before moving forward. When appropriate, the schedule can be accelerated or adjusted around the needs of the owner and dog.
