Cutting Edge
Cutting Edge is Armor K9’s comprehensive private training program for owners who want to remain closely involved in their dog’s development. Through personalized instruction at the customer’s home and in real-world settings, the program develops refined obedience, greater reliability, and the owner’s ability to confidently maintain both.
Private in-home instruction
Ten one-hour sessions
Dogs older than sixteen weeks
A More Complete Private Training Experience
Cutting Edge provides ten private, one-hour sessions that develop the dog and owner together. Training begins within the customer’s home, where everyday expectations matter most, and extends into carefully selected real-world settings as the program progresses.
Sessions may be completed twice weekly over five weeks or three times weekly over approximately three and a half weeks, allowing each owner to choose the pace that best fits their schedule.
Obedience That Moves With You
Cutting Edge develops core obedience before extending it through distance, movement, and the environments in which the owner and dog live together.
Recall · Off · Quiet · Sit · Down · Place · Heel · Release
Sit and down at a distance · Sit and down while the handler remains in motion
Household boundaries · Thresholds · Load up · Kennel up
Jumping, pulling, barking, counter surfing, overexcitement, and similar concerns may be addressed according to the needs of the individual dog and household.
Guidance Beyond the Leash
E-collar training is normally included as part of Cutting Edge and introduced progressively after the dog has begun establishing the program’s foundational obedience. The e-collar is provided, and each owner is personally taught how to use it clearly, responsibly, and consistently.
Its inclusion remains subject to Armor K9’s professional judgment. If e-collar training is not appropriate for the individual dog, the program may proceed without it.
Developed Through Partnership
Cutting Edge is designed around the active participation of the owner. Each session—including field trips—develops not only the dog’s obedience, but also the owner’s ability to communicate clearly, apply what has been taught, and maintain expectations in daily life.
Individual Fit Matters
Cutting Edge is available for dogs of any breed or size older than sixteen weeks, and no prior obedience training is required. Before enrollment, Armor K9 evaluates both the dog and owner to determine whether the program is appropriate for them.
Aggression, severe fear, separation anxiety, and full crate training fall outside the standard scope of Cutting Edge and require individual evaluation. Dogs with a bite history are generally not accepted, although unusual circumstances may be considered at Armor K9’s discretion.
Optional Bite Assessment & Development
For owners interested in exploring their dog’s potential for protection work, Bite Assessment & Development is available as an optional addition to Cutting Edge. Integrated into the training program, it allows Armor K9 to evaluate the dog’s natural desire and ability through limited, carefully controlled development.
The work proceeds only far enough to provide a responsible assessment of the dog’s potential. It is not intended to produce a protection-trained dog. The assessment concludes with Armor K9’s professional guidance on whether continued development through the Protection Development program may be appropriate. Participation does not guarantee suitability or acceptance into Protection Development.
Guidance That Continues
Cutting Edge concludes with written guidance to help the owner continue applying and maintaining what has been developed. Follow-up support is available after the tenth session, along with lifetime guidance from Armor K9.
Because every dog progresses differently, additional training may sometimes be recommended. When needed, further private sessions can be arranged separately.
Begin With a Conversation
Cutting Edge begins with a complimentary 30-minute evaluation by phone. This conversation allows Armor K9 to understand the owner’s goals, learn about the dog, and determine whether Cutting Edge is the appropriate program. An onsite evaluation may be arranged when Armor K9 determines it is necessary.
Once the program is confirmed, a deposit is required to reserve your training dates.
