Jimmy

Jimmy came to Armor K9 from Mexico as a green dog originally being developed as a police-dog candidate. We purchased him with the intention of continuing his police-dog career with an Arizona department, but that department ultimately passed on him. This did not mean Jimmy was incapable of police work—only that he was not selected by that particular department. Rather than present him to other departments, Armor K9 decided to redirect him toward personal protection or placement as a companion dog.

Jimmy has demonstrated interest and ability in bite work and is a good candidate for continued personal-protection development, especially for a new handler or someone with some working-dog experience who wants to develop greater knowledge and ability.

Jimmy is sweet and engaging, but he is not being presented as a finished personal protection dog. He requires additional obedience training and has not been trained with an electronic collar. Because his obedience remains unfinished, he can become somewhat overexcited. He will benefit from a committed owner who is willing to learn, participate in his continued development, and provide clear leadership, structure, rules, consequences, and consistency.

A single-family, single-dog household would likely suit Jimmy best. He is not dog-reactive or dog-aggressive, but introductions to other dogs should be handled properly and supported by knowledgeable guidance.

Jimmy’s new owner would be immediately eligible to participate in the Arizona Protection Dog Club, providing an opportunity for Jimmy and his handler to continue developing together under Armor K9’s guidance.
